History
Objectives
- To develop knowledge, skills and values that enable students to participate as active and informed citizens in a democratic society and a global community.
- To enable students to understand the past of Australia and other societies, their cultures, political and economic systems.
Junior School Curriculum
Year 7 students are introduced to the Ancient World, Chinese History and Australia’s Indigenous community. At Year 8, we look at the development of society after the fall of the Roman Empire up to and including the Age of Exploration. At Year 9, we study the Industrial Revolution in Great Britain and the creation of Australia as a nation.
Studies on Civics & Citizenship and Economics are incorporated into Year 7 and 8 subjects.
Senior School Curriculum
Year 10 students analyse Australian History in the C20th. Year 11 students study Modern C20th History, whilst Year 12 students have a choice of Australian History or the Russian and Chinese Revolutions.
Geography

- To explain to students the features of places and environments and the ways in which people interact with them.
Junior School Curriculum
Year 7 students are introduced to mapping, studies on water and sustainability. Year 8 includes advanced mapping, landforms and nations. Year 9 looks at biomes, tourism and globalisation. All year levels include fieldwork activities.
Senior School Curriculum
Year 10 explores environmental change and human wellbeing. Year 11 studies include hazards, disasters and tourism. In Year 12, studies on land change and human population trends are explored.
